Reinvention: The zeitgeist of our times. Out of the WV panhandle, folk musician Zoe Buccella ushers in a new era with a fresh moniker and sound: Rosezella and the Visions.

In 2020, Zoe had been in the Ohio Valley music scene for several years, gracing the stage at notable local venues such as Towngate Theatre, Later Alligator, Centre Market, and more. Yet, as she began contemplating the trajectory of her future in music, a new vision emerged. After countless hours of writing, dreaming, and planning, Rosezella and the Visions was born.

The project, named after a great-grandmother from the hills of the Ohio River Valley, is best described as "esoteric Americana," blending country and folk tradition with modern experimental and electronic influences. Themes of rebirth and creative healing feature throughout a catalog of songs that never shy away from the journey of integrating light and shadow. Somewhere between Lost Dog Street Band’s authentic American storytelling and Phoebe Bridgers’ unabashed melancholy lies Rosezella and the Visions, offering listeners companionship as they navigate the journey of life together.

Zine Compilations

Best known from the 90s punk movement, zines are self-published booklets of poems, stories, and art, often created by an artists' collective.

Each Rosezella and the Visions music release is accompanied by a community-created zine of related creations, a community gathering of visual and digital artifacts. RZV zines collect independent, insightful creations from all over the world. They may be read for free online and print copies are available at live shows and on Bandcamp.

Participation in RZV zines is open to all creatives. Calls for submissions may be found here.

Reinvention: The zeitgeist of our times. In a post-pandemic world, local folk musician Zoe Buccella ushers in a new era with a fresh moniker and sound. This is Rosezella and the Visions.

Named after an ancestor from the hills of the Southeastern Ohio River Valley, Rosezella and the Visions spins the classic singer-songwriter tradition into something new. “I realized that my personal growth reflected the transformation that so many people have experienced in recent years,” says Zoe, the project’s creator. “I saw an opportunity to make others feel less alone as we heal the pain in our past and find a new way forward.”

Themes of rebirth and creative healing are featured throughout a catalog of songs that doesn’t shy away from shining a light on the grotesque and uncomfortable. Blending Americana and folk tradition with modern experimental and electronic influences, Rosezella stays on the cutting edge while keeping one foot firmly rooted in Appalachian tradition. “It’s a new sound for a new era.” Somewhere between Lost Dog Street Band’s authentic American storytelling and Phoebe Bridgers’ unabashed deep dive into melancholy and pain, Rosezella and the Visions offers fans kinship on the bumpy journey of life.
